I am an illustrator and graphic designer. I love that I am able to do what I have dreamed about doing since I wrote and illustrated my first book in 2nd grade. Becoming an illustrator seemed like an impossible dream with lots of risks. What if my art didn't sell? What if I couldn't support myself financially? So I changed my major to early childhood education. Some might think it was a bad decision for my goals, but I feel it was one of the best decisions I made in my journey to becoming an illustrator. In the program we learned how children think, learn and grow. I was exposed to lots of children's books and helped children learn to read. These experiences have given me a different perspective on illustrating and influences how I write and draw. While I'm not in the classroom these days, I still teach children but now it is through my art.
I'm an active member of my local chapter of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).
When I'm not working on a project, you can find me having fun with my family and busting out some tunes on the piano!
